IMPLEMENTATION OF ICT-BASED DELIVERY MECHANISMS FOR AGRO-CLIMATE SERVICES IN TAJIKISTAN

The activity on “Implementation of ICT-based delivery mechanisms for climate services in Tajikistan” is being implemented within the framework of the project “Building climate resilience of vulnerable and food insecure communities through capacity strengthening and livelihood diversification in mountainous regions of Tajikistan”. This project is funded by the Green Climate Fund and is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, WFP and the Neksigol group of companies.

Focus Area The main goal of this activity is to improve the resilience of communities by increasing their access to climate information, weather forecasts, and early warning and improve their response to climate changes and shocks.. To support these goals, this project will contribute to achieve the following key objectives:
(1) Establish of ICT-based mechanisms for the timely delivery of climate information and agro-advisory
(2) Delivery of climate information and agro-advisory to the project target farmers
(3) Facilitate coordination amongst information providers regarding producing relevant information for the project target farmers
Duration December 20, 2023 – August 31, 2024
Coverage 4 districts of GBAO — Rushon, Shugnon, Roshtqala and Ishkoshim
5 districts of the DRS — Fayzobod, Tojikobod, Nurobod, Rasht and Lakhsh (Jirgatol) and
2 districts of Khatlon region — Khovaling and Muminobod
Beneficiaries This activity will improve 25,000 farmers’ access to agricultural climate information and early warnings.
